Howard Robinson announced as new Chair of RSTA

Dr Howard Robinson, Managing Director of ASI Solutions, the leading provider of asphalt preservation around the globe, has become Chairman of the Road Surface Treatment Association (RSTA).

He was handed the reins by outgoing Chair, Tom Foster from Foster Contracting as the senior officers of the RSTA for 2021-22 were appointed at a virtual AGM on April 15th.

Dr Robinson was Chief Executive of the RSTA for a decade until 2018 when he joined ASI Solutions to help with the company’s development and growth. He has been involved with the highway maintenance industry for over 30 years having held senior positions with Tarmac Group, Wimpey Minerals and Nynas Bitumen over this period. He is a recognised industry expert on road maintenance and is a regular speaker on the industry conference circuit. He was made a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation in July 2013.

He said: ”During these challenging times collaboration and sharing best practice within the highway community is more important than ever and the RSTA is perfectly positioned to advise government, highway authorities and the supply chain as they strive to deliver best value for the public purse. So, in this context I am delighted once again to be able to make a positive contribution in supporting the RSTA management team as they look to grow the association and provide leadership for our industry as well as communicate the work of our members.”

Paul Boss, current RSTA Chief Executive said ‘Howard is a familiar face at the RSTA having been Chief Executive for 10 years before joining ASI. With his wealth of knowledge in our industry and in his role as MD of ASI, I look forward to working with him as the Association continues to be the focal point for the UK road surface treatments industry, working with government and key client groups, input on best practice development, health and safety and technical issues. Keith Brett from Kiely Bros was appointed Senior Vice Chair and Kevin Amos from Eurovia, Junior Vice Chair.
