In celebration of its diamond anniversary, the Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE) has announced the launch of three new bursary programmes.
These initiatives are designed to give back to IHE members by supporting both aspiring and established professionals in the field of highway engineering. The bursaries aim to foster professional growth, encourage innovation, and promote inclusivity within the industry, marking a significant milestone in the IHE’s ongoing commitment to its members.
Early Years Award Bursary: This bursary aims to assist IHE students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in civil or transportation engineering. Offering three awards of £1000 each, it encourages academic excellence and dedication to the field.
Professional Registration Bursary: Targeted at IHE members seeking professional registration at IEng or CEng level, this bursary provides up to four awards of £2,500 each. It can be used to cover costs such as training, mentoring, or even childcare, helping members overcome financial barriers in their journey towards incorporated / chartered status.
Personal/Industry Development Bursary: With funding ranging from £1,000 to £20,000, this bursary supports IHE members in pursuing advanced training, certifications, or innovative projects which will have a positive future impact on the industry.
IHE President Katharine Kelly said:
“This is an exciting opportunity to support our members in developing and broadening their skills, and it aligns closely with two of my presidential themes – Resilience and (Professional) Registration. By offering financial assistance to members, we hope to empower individuals to excel in their careers, driving innovation and excellence within our industry.”
