The Indian Government is planning to announce its policy to replace toll plazas with a GPS-based solution, promising that plans will be published within three months.
The Swarajya website reports that Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari says that the government will come out with a new policy, and that it is already talking to Korean and Russian companies who have the technology.
“Within three months we are going to finalise the technology for replacing toll plazas in the country, which is going to save us hundreds of crores and make travel hassle-free for the commuters”, it quotes him as saying.
In the same speech to a virtual conference, Mr Gadkari said that his aim is for the country to construct 100km a day of highway construction in the future.
