ITS UK and Crown Commercial Service (CCS), an Executive Agency of the Cabinet Office and the UK’s biggest public procurement organisation, have agreed to collaborate to support the transport technology sector and help achieve the best commercial deals for the public sector.
CCS is currently undertaking a review of the transport technology market sector, the aim of which is to provide central government, arm’s length bodies and the wider public sector with access to improved routes to market for transport technology solutions including Intelligent Transport Systems, technology infrastructure, and transport technology related services.
Working with CCS, ITS UK will host a series of roundtables to support the review of sub categories within the transport technology market. These include:
- A Smart Ticketing Industry Roundtable taking place today, 18 July 2024, in London
- A Delivering Commercial Value Through Procurement Roundtable on 3 September 2024 in Birmingham
- An AI and Automation Industry Roundtable on 9 October 2024 (location to be confirmed)
These roundtables will seek to gather market insight into how procurement of transport related services could be improved to better support the roll out of technology across the transport network.
Max Sugarman, ITS UK Chief Executive, said: “We are delighted to announce this new collaboration with Crown Commercial Service, that will help support both the public and private sector in rolling out transport technology across the UK. CCS plays a vital role in supporting public sector procurement, and with the ever-changing nature of technology, it is a great opportunity to bring the sector together to enable access and deployment of transport technology solutions and inform the procurement of new intelligent transport in years to come.”
Philip Orumwense, Commercial Director and Chief Procurement Officer at Crown Commercial Service, said: “Collaboration with industry associations is at the heart of the service and value we provide for our customers. It is a pleasure to be working with ITS UK to ensure Crown Commercial Service continues to provide public sector bodies with the best possible support and guidance when it comes to the purchase of transport technology goods and services. Market engagement on transport technology will help the public sector to achieve a smarter and greener transport network, while ensuring the most effective use of taxpayer’s money.”
