ITS (UK) gears up for a very busy day with Members next month

The UK’s Intelligent Transport Society is putting the final touches to a very busy day on 13 October, as it hosts its Members’ Day followed by the annual President’s Dinner and Awards in Milton Keynes.

The Members’ Day is hosted by the Connected Places Catapult and sponsored by Clearview Intelligence, Smart Video and Sensing and SWARCO.  Members’ Day was introduced post-lockdown primarily as an opportunity for our industry to meet in an informal setting and network alongside some presentations, debating and demonstrations.  Last year’s event proved extremely popular and successful so returns for 2022, enabling Members to catch up with colleagues, find out about latest ideas, question some of the industry’s received wisdom and speak themselves in the “Members’ Open House”.

The “putting the clothes back on the Emperor” discussion will allow people to anonymously challenge established thinking.  Subjects that have already been put forward include, EV policy and promotion vs energy and cost-of-living crises, if MaaS is so great, where in the UK can I use it?, active travel and town centre renewal policies vs continued local authority support for car-only retail and employment sites and how honest is too honest? – reporting on your publicly funded project.

The Members’ Open House section iswhere any member to have around five-to-ten minutes to discuss an issue key to them (subject to a maximum number for time keeping).  The idea was trialled at last year’s Members’ Day and proved to be very popular both among speakers and the audience, so is being offered again this year.  Several members, including Simplifai Systems, SRL, Gaist, Paul Spiers, Danny Woolard and Andy Graham are already down to speak.  Members wishing to join in the Members’ Open House, or raise a comment in the debate, should contact the organisers via email.

The Members’ Day is part of a busy day for ITS (UK) in the city.  After that event hosted at the Connected Places Catapult, in the evening, proceedings move four hundred yards away to the Jury’s Inn Hotel for the ITS (UK) President’s Dinner and Awards.  Ten awards will be handed out in the evening by ITS (UK) President Steve Norris, in the biggest event of its kind for the Society.

To sign up for Members’ Day go here.

There are still seats available for the President’s Dinner and Awards, costing £95 per head, with a special price of £85 for every Early Careers professional attending with a full-price paying colleague.  Tables of ten are available for £850, with half tables of five costing £450 (all prices plus VAT).  ITS (UK) has also negotiated a special rate of £105 per night in the Jury’s Inn.  For full details and to book, go here.
