The UK’s industry association for Intelligent Transport Systems is highlighting the role its members are playing in this week’s major Highways UK exhibition and conference at the NEC in Birmingham.
Nearly 50 members are taking exhibition stands at the two-day event, while around 150 speakers are from member organisations.
ITS (UK) Secretary General Jennie Martin is a panellist at the opening debate in the Local Authority Theatre at 11am on Day One, where she’ll be contributing to the discussion around “Who’s in the Local Roads Tent” which looks at why are there so many organisations involved in the local roads market, who they are and what they do. ITS (UK) will be speaking alongside the TTF, ADEPT, LCRIG, AIA, ARTSM, TOPAS and RSTA.
With COP26 fast approaching, ITS (UK) will also be leading discussions on how technology is vital in achieving Net Zero in transport. ITS (UK) Carbon Ambassador Keith McCabe of Simplifai Systems will be leading a panel discussion with the finalists of the ITS (UK) COP26 Re-Think Competition and leading members of ITS UK to answer the question how we can use Intelligent Transport Systems to deliver net zero transport in the Tech and Innovation Theatre at 10.10am on Day Two.
ITS (UK) will also have a stand, D34, which is between the entrance and the Keynote Theatre. Members are encouraged to come and say hello, while non-members can find out more about the benefits of joining the Society.
“It’s excellent to see so many ITS (UK) members actively engaged at Highways UK, but it’s hardly surprising given the enormous potential for ITS to radically improve pretty much all of the key metrics by which we measure the network, whether that is safety, reliability, connectivity, carbon, congestion or air quality,” commented Paul Wheeler, content director at Highways UK. “We’ve enjoyed and benefited from ITS (UK)’s input as an active member of our advisory board since our launch in 2015; and it’s clear that our priorities are fully aligned and will become ever more so given the great disruptors at play across highways and transportation.”
“Highways UK has established itself as one of the must-attend events of the year, and this year is even more exciting because it’s the biggest face-to-face UK event we’ve had in nearly two years,” added Jennie Martin. “It’s great to see just how many ITS (UK) members are exhibiting and speaking at the event and shows just how influential our members are. ITS (UK) is more than the sum of its parts, so this underlines just what a key organisation we are in the highways and transport industry.”
ITS (UK) Executive members exhibiting at the event are: Amey, Atkins, Capita, Clearview Intelligence, Cubic Transportation Systems, EGIS, Gaist, IBI Group, Innovate UK, Jacobs, Jenoptik, Kapsch, Mott MacDonald, National Highways, PA Consulting, SRL, TRL and WSP.
Other members exhibiting are: AECOM, AGD Systems, Arcadis, Arup, Coeval, Kier, Messagemaker, Navtech Radar, R4dar Technologies, Re-flow, Redflex, SWARCO, Telent, Teragence, Transport for West Midlands, Truvelo, Vaisala, Vivacity, Westcotec and Yunex Traffic.
