The popular JCT Traffic Signals Symposium will take place in Leeds next year, as the three-day conference and exhibition moves from its recent home in Nottingham.
Due to changes in student requirements at Nottingham Trent University, the Symposium was unable to be accommodated in its usual September slot, so the organisers have found a new venue at the award-winning Royal Armouries Conference Centre for the 23-25 September 2025.
“The Symposium has very specific requirements,” JCT Director John Nightingale, who runs the event, told the audience at the 29th Symposium today (Wednesday 11 September). “We need somewhere with a large lecture theatre for our unique learned programme of papers that is right beside exhibition space for our growing number of exhibitors to promote their cutting-edge technology. And on top of that we need venues to deliver our excellent networking events.”
While the Royal Armouries will host the conference and exhibition, Mr Nightingale explained that the opening social event on the Tuesday, and the Wednesday evening gala dinner would take place in venues nearby.
“We think the separate venues for our social events means we can offer an enhanced experience for delegates and exhibitors,” he continued. “Given next year is our 30th Symposium, we think, dare I say, a “posher” gala dinner will suit the occasion very well and mark our celebration in style.”
This year’s JCT Traffic Signals Symposium is a record breaker with more than 300 delegates and 32 exhibitors taking part. It kicked off yesterday (Tuesday) with the MOVA User Group meeting and opening barbecue sponsored by Telent. Two days of papers are currently being presented, with the SWARCO drinks reception and Yunex Traffic gala dinner this evening being attended by more than 225 industry professionals.
