Transport for London has opened the redeveloped Cromwell Road bus station in the London Borough of Kingston.
Working in partnership with the project contractor VolkerFitzpatrick and the Royal Borough of Kingston, this redevelopment is a first of its kind for the station since it opened in the 1990s.
TfL says the build combines contemporary style with the latest technology, allowing it to redesign and upgrade station facilities, and that the bus station will be more energy efficient, with improved safety and accessibility, as the number of customers journeying through the station continues to increase.
The new energy-efficient bus station offers the latest in live travel information, services and features and has better connected, accessible bus stops, a fully accessible customer information office, improved live information screens at both ends of the bus station and a new canopy over the customer waiting area.
There’s also a wider passenger island with more space for customers waiting for buses and moving around the bus station, a new fully accessible toilet, new retail space and improved accommodation for TfL staff and bus drivers.
