LCRIG’s Transport Technology Forum contract renewed

The Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG) has had its contract to support the Transport Technology Forum (TTF) renewed for a further three years.

LCRIG has delivered the TTF for the Department for Transport since the summer of 2021.  The contract renewal will see the not-for-profit Community Interest Company continue to deliver the Forum until at least 2028.

Over the years that LCRIG has operated the TTF, they have led engagement activities around the award and distribution of £65 million of central government funding to improve traffic signals, led research into the Connected Vehicle Data Strategy and shared best practice in Local Authority responses to Active Travel.  They have also published the Manual for Smart Streets and guidance for Local Authorities in delivering electric vehicle charging infrastructure, as well as developing standards for Digital Data for Traffic Signal Controllers in the DCIS project.

LCRIG’s fully-funded model for local authorities has greatly expanded the TTF’s Conference and Autumn Updates events, allowing hundreds of officers to attend, learn and debate, making these events key dates in the industry’s diary.  In addition, the TTF and LCRIG have delivered four Connected Vehicle Demonstrator events at UTAC in Bedfordshire, and they revitalised UK presence at ITS World and European Congresses in Los Angeles, Lisbon, Dubai and Seville, helping small and medium-sized enterprises to attend.

The TTF is also supporting the National Parking Platform and is delivering updated guidance for managing electronic roadside equipment and universal traffic management systems.  It is also a leading contributor to delivering the Intelligent Transport Systems World Congress when it comes to Birmingham in 2027.

“Our work with the TTF is aligned to our central mission at LCRIG to support local authorities and the supply chain maximise the value of technology in their transport policy,” added LCRIG Managing Director Kerry Winstanley.  “By supporting the Department for Transport in the TTF, we bring the third key player into the conversation – central government, offering a two-way conversation around transport technology policy and funding.  Our work with the TTF has built on the legacy of the TTF’s key role in bringing councils and the government together to help monitor the country’s response to Covid lockdowns back in 2020.  I am so excited to be continuing this extremely successful relationship, and continuing to play a key role in driving change in the sector alongside our colleagues from TTF.”
