Lower Thames Crossing decision delayed

The Government has delayed announcing whether the Lower Thames Crossing will go ahead.

It was expected that a yes or know on the link between Essex and Kent to the east of the Dartford Crossing would be given today.

But an update on its website reads “an update will be provided on the application in due course”.

It says the decision stage, when the relevant Secretary of State then reviews the report and makes the final decision gives them three months to make a decision which was expected to be today. But it merely says “in progress”.

The BBC says it is understood Parliament will be updated on the decision when it returns from recess on Monday.
