A section of the M8 in Glasgow is set to close for more than two weeks for repair work, with drivers having been warned that diversions will be in place. Work to replace a parapet at Junction 18, Charing Cross, will be carried out by Amey from March 23 until April 10.
The M8 eastbound Junction 18 off-slip to St George’s Road/Great Western Road, including the eastbound Junction 19 Anderston on-slip, will be closed from 8pm on Sunday, March 23, until 6am on Monday 24 while the work is carried out, says The National.
The off-slip to Great Western Road will be closed from March 24 until April 9, while traffic will be diverted via the M8 eastbound junction 18 off-slip to St Georges Road.
On April 9 from 8pm until 6am to April 10, the junction’s off-slips to St George’s Road/Great Western Road will be completely closed.
There will also be continuous 24-hour nearside lane closures on Great Western Road between West Graham Street and St George’s Road on-slip to Great Western Road starting at 8pm from March 23 to April 10.
Amey said the work will benefit drivers by improving the condition and safety of the parapet and by conducting the work now it will reduce the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
In a statement, Traffic Scotland added: “Road users should plan their journey accordingly and allow extra time for travel or consider an alternative route.”
