Marlborough Highways raises more than £20,000 with its Matched Funding Ukraine Appeal

Marlborough Highways is delighted to announce that it has raised £20,045 for the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. The initiative is in response to the ongoing war in Ukraine, with the money going to help those forced to flee their homes in the conflict zone. The Chelmsford based highways services company has honoured its pledge to match the first £10,000 donated through its dedicated Just Giving page, which went live on 4 March 2022.

Marlborough would like to thank all those that have donated to the appeal, including its own employees, friends and family of staff members, and several valued clients and suppliers. The company is particularly grateful to Davlav and North London Plant Hire for their generous donations, totalling £7,500.

The DEC is an umbrella group of UK charities which coordinates and launches collective appeals to raise funds to provide emergency aid and rapid relief to people caught up in disasters and humanitarian crises around the world. To date the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal has raised over £300m nationwide, making it one of the most successful online charitable campaigns ever. Over the next three years, the money will be spent on a variety of key priorities, including heath care, logistical help for internally displaced people and refugees, the delivery of food and supplies, providing access to safe drinking water, and psychosocial support for women, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.

Marlborough is passionate about playing a meaningful role in society, by working sustainably and responsibly to make a difference in the communities it serves and beyond. It actively supports employees that wish to volunteer their time to good causes and is involved in several community schemes and partnerships that seek to improve the lives of disadvantaged people. Marlborough’s Matched Funding Ukraine Appeal is the latest initiative to be organised and promoted by company’s dedicated social values team and has been supported by staff members across every level of the business.

Matthew Revell, Marlborough’s Managing Director, commented “We have been overwhelmed by the response to our Matched Funding Ukraine Appeal and I would personally like to thank all those that have contributed for their generosity. The DEC is making a real difference to people’s lives, and I couldn’t be prouder of my colleagues and industry partners for the support that they have shown.”
