Messagemaker Displays to launch new MS1 and Urban VMS at Highways UK M

Messagemaker Displays will launch two new LED sign ranges at Highways UK this week, taking place on the 16th and 17th of October at the NEC in Birmingham.

The MS1 is a highly specialist product for motorway applications, designed to facilitate a quick and easy installation with a variety of existing brackets. The Urban Variable Message Signs (VMS) has been specifically designed for urban traffic applications, enabling a huge variety of messaging, traffic updates, warning and directions to be communicated quickly, easily and in real time.

With an abundance of inoperative MS1 signs present along the UK’s road network, the new MS1 offering from Messagemaker Displays is designed to enable replacement with minimal downtime. Available with two styles of bracket to ensure compatibility with an existing system, this new product takes just 15 minutes to install on average. Compatible with MNCS2 and CHARM, the new LED signs can display any TSRGD symbol in full colour along with the flashing amber wig-wags.

Designed to maximise efficiency in every regard, each MS1 unit has an average power consumption of just 41 watts. This, paired with commonly compatible power and data connectors results in a system that can reduces downtime, running costs and installation expenditure and prioritises seamless continuity.

Messagemaker Displays will also be showcasing its range of UTMC and NTCIP compliant VMS signs. The range comprises five core screens for three different urban applications. For primary routes, a large 2560 x 1120mm screen for displaying text, virtual wig-wags and TSRGD symbols. For parking guidance, a 1728 x 1152mm display with full colour for icons and text, enables clear and live updates. Finally, for city centres there are two screens in portrait and landscape orientations, in addition to compact a screen for tight spaces, which can accommodate different narrow urban spaces.

Each of the VMS screen displays has been designed to maximise longevity and minimise maintenance and running costs. All five have a modular screen that enables easy repair and reduces downtime. Energy efficient, each one uses SMD LED technology, to ensure clear and vibrant full colour displays with minimal power usage: the smallest in the range consumes just 66 watts on average. As a result, all of the Urban VMS products offer a design life of 15+ years.

Danny Adamson, Managing Director at Messagemaker Displays commented: “We have been steadily expanding our LED signage offering over the last few years and these new ranges of urban and motorway screens completes our full suite of solutions for any roadside application. We are delighted to launch at Highways UK and look forward to speaking to potential customers about our new LED products.”
