Modelling and simulation software company PTV Group’s UK and Ireland Division will put expert users front-and-centre next week, as they examine the future of transport and modelling at the company’s annual User Group Meeting in London
Its 24th annual meeting, on Monday 4 November, welcomes leading practitioners from across the country get together to examine industry challenges and find solutions. It includes a discussion on innovation, modelling frameworks, proportional modelling, and managing and modelling road space, hearing from guest speakers Charlotte Saunders from Jacobs, Tom Godsmark from West of England Combined Authority, the Department for Transport’s Caroline Humphreys, and Michael Banham from City of York Council.
“The User Group Meeting isn’t one of those events where the hosts stand up and tell everyone how clever they are, it’s a highly technical day when our users get together to share experiences, feedback and ideas with our team to examine challenges and find solutions,” explained PTV UK Director Devrim Kara. “I am particularly looking forward to hearing from our esteemed panel, who we’ve asked to give insights on how they think modelling needs to adapt to react to these challenges, and also the opportunities in the sector.”
The event also details what is new in PTV’s widely-used Visum and Vissim simulation software solutions, and features a series of case studies from users showing how modelling has been used in locations as diverse as Oslo city centre and Luton Airport, and across modes – traffic, rail, cycling, maritime and buses, highlighting its new PTV Lines bus planning software (pictured).
There will also be details of the newly-launched PTV Hub – the industry’s first true cloud-based collaborative modelling platform for mobility planning, design, and optimisation, and what that means for users.
