National Highways has published a YouTube video explaining the emergency service contact system eCall to drivers.
With the line “eCall SOS could save your life. Locate the button. Know when to use it,” the video explains what eCall is, how it works and when people should use it.
It was produced with support of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
ITS (UK) Connected Vehicle Forum Chair Andy Graham was involved in pushing the eCall message. He said, “I am delighted that ITS (UK) could help National Highways in a small way to get this off the ground, and hope it’s the start of wider awareness of eCall. If we can make this first mandatory connected vehicle service work well then it offers lessons for future services.”
