New noise monitors are being installed roads near the A24 in Surrey in an attempt to stop drivers and motorcyclists racing up and down it.
Surrey Live reports Residents in villagesbetween Dorking and Leatherhead have complained of “deafening noise” from speeding cars and motorbikes as they use the area “as a race track”.
Drivers apparently use the rural roads around Box Hill in order to avoid average speed cameras on the A24 itself.
Hazel Watson, Surrey County Councillor for Dorking Hills, told the website, “There is a significant problem of cars and motorbikes with excessively noisy exhausts causing concern to many local residents.”
Police will use four new devices to detect when a vehicle breaks the legal noise limit.
