National Highways have thanked drivers who changed their plans and took advice to avoid the Wisley to Chertsey stretch of the M25 last weekend while it was closed. As a result, a critical piece of bridge installation was completed and significant progress was made with junction 10 improvements.
The organisation has also announced that there will be no more full weekend closures of the M25/A3 this calendar year. The two remaining closures will be next spring, with National Highways giving a minimum of four weeks’ notice for these closures so drivers can plan ahead. Busy holiday periods will be avoided.
Works on junction 10 (Wisley) of the motorway have meant three closures between March and July, on one of the country’s busiest stretches of road.
The most recent closure, which was completed several hours ahead of schedule on Sunday at 23:00 BST, was “a complete success”, National Highways said.
“Please bear in mind the M25/A3 will still be closed at times over some weekends, and we will also be doing some 12 hour night closures on the M25 through the autumn,” said a National Highways statement.
