Road users are reminded that due to ongoing safety enhancements near Birmingham, parts of the M6 and M42 will be closed this weekend.
The northbound carriageway of the M6 will be shut between junctions 4 (Coleshill) and 6 (Gravelly Hill) from 9pm on Saturday, 13 May to 6am on Monday, 15 May.
To protect road users and the workforce, lanes two and three on the southbound carriageway will be closed at the same times between junctions 5 and 4.
There will also be a full closure of the M42 junction 7 (Coleshill) northbound slip road on to the M6 northbound and the southbound link road between the M42 at junction 8 (Coleshill Directional Triangle) and the M6 northbound.
The closure will enable National Highways to dig trenches across the carriageway to install ducts which will house cables for new lighting columns.
It’s part of an ongoing scheme to upgrade the steel central reservation barrier to concrete, renew road lighting, realign drainage and install new CCTV cameras between junctions 4 and 5. The creation of additional places to stop in an emergency and new and improved signs are also being delivered as part of the project.
