PTV Group and Econolite have announced they will debut their latest technological innovations under their joint brand, Umovity at the 2024 Mobility Tech Update.
PTV will showcase groundbreaking new features in its renowned software for transportation modelling, multimodal simulation, and real-time traffic management. Econolite will spotlight its advancements in traffic management and ITS hardware and software solutions.
The companies say a comprehensive overview of these innovations will be shared during a LinkedIn Live session on 15 October.
The joint Umovity Mobility Tech Suite integrates software, hardware, and services, providing transportation professionals worldwide with a comprehensive portfolio of solutions to manage the entire mobility value chain. From strategic transportation modeling and planning to real-time traffic management, prediction, and on-site infrastructure, Umovity enables a seamless, holistic approach to addressing modern mobility challenges.
One of the key innovations within this suite is the launch of PTV Hub – the industry’s first true cloud collaboration platform for modeling and simulation. It seamlessly connects Hub-enabled desktop licenses for PTV Visum, Vissim, Viswalk, and Vistro, and enriches them with functionalities to organize projects, manage licenses, and compute models in the cloud. The included apps not only enhance user productivity and accessibility to PTV software but also foster stronger collaboration among teams, stakeholders, and the public. PTV Hub is also an integral part of the company’s Dynamic Multimodal Network Management vision – an integrated management, operational planning, and decision support system empowering cities and organizations to organize mobility across all modes of transportation.
Another recent introduction is Companion, an AI-powered conversational interface available in PTV Visum, Vissim, Viskwalk, and Vistro. Companion addresses a wide range of questions around the software and is built on PTV-generated materials such as help pages, webinars, and other product documentation.
Umovity says the latest update of the transportation planning software PTV Visum introduces a powerful automated public transport network design feature. This new algorithmic solution automatically generates optimised networks and timetables based on infrastructure and demand inputs, improving passenger service while minimising costs. In the field of microsimulation, PTV Vissim 2025 has been extended with new features for virtual vehicle testing, along with an advanced driving behaviour model for autonomous vehicles,
As part of the 2025 release, PTV Lines – a cloud-based tool for public transport service planning – now incorporates a new feature for accessibility and catchment area analysis. By integrating data such as population demographics and public services, planners can easily evaluate how well different population groups are served by public transportation.
For the 2024 Mobility Tech Update, Econolite will highlight the new capabilities of its industry-leading Centracs® Mobility Platform, including the integration of Centracs Mobility with PTV Flows. Centracs Mobility is the only ATMS that combines data-driven traffic operations with predictive traffic management. In addition, the integration of Centracs Mobility and Flows makes it an ideal solution for multijurisdictional operations, helping optimise mobility across multipleregions. Also featured will be Econolite’s best-in-class, high-accuracy detection solutions, Autoscope® Vision and EVO RADAR™, including the cloud-based data reporting, analytics, and monitoring integration with Centracs +Detect. Additional details for EVO RADAR’s path to deployment in Europe will also be discussed.
Econolite’s breakthrough EOS controller software will also be featured. EOS includes improvements to preemption, LRT operations, and security credentials management utility, pedestrian operation enhancements, SCOOT support, and full-feature virtual integration with PTV Vissim, supporting Digital Twin (DT) and simulation environments.
Finally, Econolite’s line of standards-based and customizable traffic control cabinets, the most comprehensive in the industry, will be highlighted. With the shortest-lead times available in the industry, Econolite provides traffic control cabinets for nearly every market, ensuring safer, smarter, and greener intersection operations.
Christian U Haas, CEO of Umovity uniting Econolite and PTV Group said: “The Mobility Tech Update isn’t just about showcasing the cutting-edge innovations from PTV Group and Econolite—it’s a celebration of our global community. Because all those transportation professionals who work each day to shape mobility for humanity are the true superheroes. And at Umovity, our mission is to empower them with the right “superpowers” to help them conquer their unique mobility challenges.”
