Rennicks adds weather sensors to its portfolio

The highways technology and services company Rennicks is bringing Internet of Things road weather stations to the UK market.

It says authorities will benefit from the new co-operation with Klimator by having easy access to solutions for cost-effective weather stations.

Rennicks explains these weather stations will supplement the existing measuring equipment and will create a dense network of local weather input for more accurate winter maintenance. The sensors will increase monitoring capabilities to optimise precise, necessary and time sensitive winter services for safer roads during winter. They will also reduce the environmental impact from use of undue salt and other resources for winter maintenance.

Rennicks Group works with a variety of sectors ranging from local authorities and maintenance contractors through to National Highways, Transport Scotland and Welsh Government agencies.

Klimator’s sensor business is the market leader for IoT weather stations in Denmark and growing in the Nordic and other European countries. The solutions provide unprecedented real time insights in local weather conditions and supply important input to weather forecasting systems.

“The IoT Weather Stations from Klimator are a great fit for us, aligning with our strategy to provide real time, digital network intelligence solutions for our clients” says Barry Marron, CEO of Rennicks Group. Søren Pedersen, CEO of Klimator Denmark adds, “We are really happy to have Rennicks as a partner in the UK. We look forward to continue international expansion of our IoT weather station network together with a partner that has national coverage and great experience with road side equipment solutions.”
