Latest data collated by the Transport Technology Forum suggests that traffic levels at morning rush hour grew significantly in the week beginning 29 June compared to weeks before.
Furthermore, observed hourly traffic levels were at their highest level since lockdown for 23 out of the 24 hours in the day.
The report says that, although it’s too soon to see the effect of the reopening of pubs and restaurants, figures indicate traffic on Sunday 5 July was only 16% below pre-crisis baseline.
While cycling levels have declined in line with less favourable weather, volumes continue to be around 50% up on baseline levels.
The report also covers local authority best practice, highlighting how authorities are getting the opinions of residents before moving ahead with schemes as well as new walking and cycling projects.
