Second phase of £16 million improvement work set to start on A595

A major upgrade of the A595 at Moresby, Cumbria is set to take another step forward.

Embankment repairs and drainage improvements feature in National Highways’ £16 million scheme, which will help to keep drivers on the move and reduce the need for future repairs.

A new drainage system to reduce the risk of flooding on the road formed part of the first phase of the scheme, said the Cumbrian Times.

The second phase is due to begin on Friday 12 May and be complete by the middle of summer. Upcoming work includes:

  • Further installation of new drainage
  • Upgrade of lighting to LED
  • Construction of a new merge lane on the southbound exit of Howgate roundabout
  • Full carriageway reconstruction from Howgate roundabout to Pelican Garage

To keep road users and the workforce safe, a series of weekend closures will be in place to complete the work.
