Site and road safety specialists Solar Gates have secured an exclusive deal with intelligent traffic system experts Berlex, to become exclusive UK and Ireland distributor for Berlex’s intelligent portable traffic signal system.
The TOPAS-registered R6+ signals include the Swedish company’s cloud-based platform ‘BerlexConnect’ which allows users to easily monitor, track and control the portable traffic signal system via an app or computer.
The companies say the collaboration brings together two innovation-fuelled companies dedicated to the digital transformation of road safety.
Adding the R6+ portable traffic signal to its existing arsenal of road safety equipment and solar-powered solutions, Solar Gates’ Commercial Director Anna Blake said the agreement means traffic management companies throughout Britain now have a smarter ‘portable’ solution for a wide variety of applications.
She added: “The R6+ is the first fully cloud-based portable systems of its kind. It removes the need for on-site adjustments as everything is done through the app.
“It’s a game changer, in other words. This agreement is an exciting leap forward for Solar Gates and one that makes total sense.

Peter Hammarström, Business Director at Berlex, revealed that the partnership was founded on a mutual commitment to excellence.

The companies explain that BerlexConnect App provides users of the R6+ system with real-time tracking of the device’s location, battery status and signal health, unit health, location and give traffic management teams full visibility of what is happening with each signal on site in real time. This means issues can often be identified and resolved remotely, reducing unnecessary trips to site. It also maximizes the safety for the TM operators since it minimizes the time of exposure in dangerous traffic situations. The scalable nature of the system allows for an unlimited number of “signal heads”, meaning it can cope with complex multi-phase pedestrian and vehicle layouts. Designed for extended battery performance with optional solar charging capability, the R6+ delivers long-duration operation on site reducing site visits.
