Covering a range of topics and expert guidance, themes include:

  • How to use lower carbon materials
  • Ways to use more recycled content
  • How to reduce material usage and avoid waste
  • Steps to build roads that last longer
  • The principles of sustainable contracting
  • Building better infrastructure and environments
  • Stories about sustainable road building and highways maintenance best practice from across the UK

Brian Kent, Tarmac’s technical director, said: “Accelerating the journey to net zero has never been higher on the agenda. We recognise that we, as a leader in the sector, have a key role to play in shaping our industry’s approach to sustainability and in delivering sustainable construction methods and products.

“The introduction of our new guide is an important step forward to help our customers, partners and the industry to understand what innovations are currently available – leading to carbon savings, less impact on the environment and more sustainable decisions being made.”
