TfGM prioritises pedestrians

Traffic signal timings in Greater Manchester have been changed increase the duration for pedestrians to cross.

This isn’t just because the number of vehicle journeys is down by about 70 per cent, but also to reduce waiting time for people making an essential journey on foot, so people are less likely to group together at pedestrian crossings.

TfGM says this helps people maintain social distancing and travel safely.

It does, though, remind people not to travel unless it’s absolutely necessary.
