The latest Transport Technology Forum weekly digest of transport use across a range of English local authorities has found a slight drop in traffic levels for the week beginning 10th August.
Traffic volumes were down nearly a percentage point, with less traffic through the middle of the day.
The analysis found that cycling volumes also fell during the week, possibly due to the very hot and then stormy weather.
With August traditionally seeing a fall in traffic, TTF analysts think the next key event will be the impact of schools going back next month, although there may still be some interesting changes through the rest of August with more people potentially choosing a domestic holiday.
This week’s digest also shares some news from local authorities, with details of a major new cycling network, more ideas for schemes which could be funded by the Department for Transport’s Emergency Active Travel Fund, some advice for local authorities looking to benefit from the deployment of e-scooters and news of Scotland’s largest electric vehicle charging station.
