Statistics from the Department for Transport suggest that transport use has dropped by at least three quarters since social distancing rules came in.
It’s issued a graphic showing that, compared with 18 March, use of London’s tube is down by three quarters, while trains, London buses and motor vehicle transport is down by at least 80 per cent.
Figures with normal levels will show an even starker difference, given that by 18 March, when the statistics are calibrated to, many people had already begun working from home and non-essential face-to-face meetings and events had been cancelled.
