TTF data confirms cycling-weather correlation

The latest Transport Technology Forum weekly digest of transport use suggests the increase in cycling since the Coronavirus crisis hit has begun to reduce, possibly due to changes in the weather.

Data from a range of authorities indicates cycling volumes rose last week but they are down 20 percentage points from two weeks before, probably due to variable weather.

Car travel rose slightly through the week. The report also shares transport initiatives from local authorities including details about an implementation of solutions funded through the Active Travel Emergency Fund, how a council is working with its residents to ensure public opinion is onside with environmental considerations, that another is placing sustainable travel at the centre of its regeneration and a new bike hire scheme is introduced.
