UK Pavilion leads networking initiatives at ITS World Congress

Visitors to the ITS World Congress in Dubai next month will get two special opportunities to meet leading UK-based transport technology companies at special breakfast networking sessions.

The UK Pavilion is led by Transport Technology Forum and organised by Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG), with support from the Department for Transport, Innovate UK and ITS UK.  Twelve businesses are exhibiting on-stand to the estimated 20,000 visitors.

At 10.30am on Wednesday 18 September ITS UK is hosting a ‘Meet the ITS Nationals’ Breakfast, with counterparts from ITS national associations from across Europe.  This offers visitors a chance to meet experts from across the continent and hear from ITS Nationals Chair Dónal Hodgins and ITS UK Chief Executive Max Sugarman.

Meanwhile on Friday 20 September at 8.30am, the Pavilion is the place to join the launch of the run-up to Birmingham’s hosting of the ITS World Congress in 2027.

The West Midlands Combined Authority will host the breakfast reception where visitors will hear from Transport for West Midlands, the UK Government, ITS UK and ERTICO with insights into what the event will hold.

Head of Transport Innovation at Transport for West Midlands, Chris Lane, who is leading the Birmingham Congress’s organisation for the UK, added: “The Dubai congress really will fire the starting gun on the build-up to Birmingham 2027, and we are very much looking forward to meeting visitors in Dubai and welcoming them to the National Exhibition Centre.  It’s also a great chance for a dozen of our ITS leaders who’ll no doubt be centre stage in three years’ time, to have some initial conversations.”

LCRIG Director Kerry Winstanley, who is organising the stand, commented: “The UK Pavilion is establishing itself as a central hub of networking at World and European Congresses and we look forward to welcoming visitors from around the globe to meet informally and learn more about the great innovations the UK is delivering to international ITS”.

AECOM, AGD Systems, ANGOKA, Aurrigo, Clearview Intelligence, Immense, Neology, Nicander, Now Wireless, Starling Technologies, Westcotec and Zenzic are supporting the UK Pavilion and will have staff on-stand all week to meet visitors.

Sign up to attend the Wednesday breakfast here.  There is no need to register for the Friday reception.

“We’re really looking forward to hosting a breakfast reception on the UK Pavilion with the ITS Network of Nationals, the body of some 30 European ITS membership organisations,” explained Mr Sugarman.  “ITS UK is proud to be supporting the breakfast on the Friday too, which will mark the road to the World Congress taking place in Birmingham in 2027.”

The ITS World Congress takes place between 16 and 20 September at the Dubai World Trade Centre, United Arab Emirates.
