UK SMEs to showcase the country’s transport innovations at the ITS World Congress in Dubai

Eleven Small and medium enterprises have signed up to a high-profile platform at Intelligent Transport Systems World Congress in September thanks to a unique partnership of leading supporters of UK transport technology.

The British Pavilion at the ITS World Congress in Dubai is being hosted by the Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG), for the Transport Technology Forum, supported by the Department for Transport, Innovate UK, the Department Business and Trade, and ITS UK.

AGD Systems, ANGOKA, Aurrigo, Clearview Intelligence, Immense, Neology, Nicander, Now Wireless, Starling Technologies, Westcotec and Zenzic will be on the stand, as part of the UK delegation, giving them an extremely cost-effective way to participate, providing an opportunity to showcase their innovations in road transport technology on a global stage.

They will also be able to make connections and network with peers from across the world, find potential business partners and meet industry experts. The Department Business and Trade will facilitate introductions with key stakeholders for the participants exhibiting on the UK Pavilion throughout the five days of the exhibition.  On top of this, the companies will get to see leading smart mobility solutions and may also take part in the conference giving them an opportunity to learn about the latest ITS technologies and implementations.  Participants will be part of a Congress with around 15,000 visitors expected.

“The UK has always been a leader in development of ITS solutions, and also one of the key supporters of ITS World Congresses, so it is fitting we have such an impressive pavilion in Dubai,” commented Darren Capes, Transport Technology Forum Manager, and ITS Policy Lead at the Department for Transport.  “It is important that our SMEs can showcase their innovations on a global stage, and I am proud that the TTF can facilitate that.  I believe participation in the World Congress, with the opportunity to meet people from around the world will help us grow our export market.”

“Following the success of our UK Pavilion at the ITS European Congress in Lisbon last year we are looking forward to raising the bar even further in Dubai,” commented LCRIG Finance and Operations Director Kerry Winstanley.  “Having identified our pavilion partners, we are now working on delivering a series of eye-catching events in Dubai to really underline the country’s participation, and look forward to sharing these plans in the next few weeks.”

The UK delegation to the Congress has benefitted from funding support from the TTF, which is supported by the Department for Transport and Innovate UK, who are also represented on the Pavilion.

Meanwhile the UK delegation and ERTICO will officially launch the 2027 ITS World Congress at the event, after the West Midlands was chosen as host.

“Our planning for ITS World Congress in 2027 is already underway, and we’re looking forward to meeting our potential guests when we’re in Dubai,” commented Chris Lane, Head of Transport Innovation at Transport for West Midlands, who oversaw the bidding process.  “By the time we get to this year’s Congress we hope to have signed our Contract to be hosts, and we will begin the process of showcasing the UK as a whole, and West Midlands in particular, as a must-attend venue for the world’s ITS industry.  I can’t wait!”

The ITS World Congress takes place between 16 and 20 September at the Dubai World Trade Centre, United Arab Emirates.
