Yorkshire Highway Alliance starts search for highways contractors

The Yorkshire Highway Alliance has started the search for highways contractors for its major works contractor framework, which is for all highway works over £7 million.

Works include construction works, consultative engineering and construction services, reports New Civil Engineer.

Conducted on behalf of Alliance, the tender will be managed by Leeds City Council with the deadline for submission being 25th January 2023. The framework also includes City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, Calderdale Council, Kirkless Council, Wakefield Council and the City of York Council. It will also be available to any local authorities or contracting authorities who are a wholly owned subsidiary of the local authorities within the Yorkshire and Humber region.

According to the report, the contract will be awarded as a single lot but with up to four winning contractors, and will run for four years from 1st April 2023.

The framework for work up to £6 million was created in 2020 and features several companies including Galliford Try, Tarmac, Colas and Jackson Civil Engineering.
