For the second year running, Yunex Traffic is working closely with its supply chain partners to get primary school children thinking about safety. Through a design competition, the company aims to highlight the importance of road safety, and raise awareness of BRAKE’s national road safety campaign.
The team at Yunex Traffic developed the competition for children attending primary schools which are close to its 14 regional depots, with the pupils encouraged to design a sticker to promote this year’s Road Safety Week. Teams at each Yunex Traffic depot have now judged all the entries (which this year totalled over 300), and the winning designs have been made into stickers. Printed by Stewart Signs, the stickers will be displayed on the side of each depot’s vans.
As part of the programme, several suppliers, including Eldridge Electrical Limited, A.D.D. Loop Cutting Services Ltd, Tom Nagy, Road Tech Cutting, Prescott Special Projects Ltd, Lochwynd Ltd, Cable Connections, Renteq, Traffic UK and Chevron South Coast Traffic Management have also donated a range of school equipment, including I-Pads, stationery and sports kit. Totalling more than £7,000 this equipment is now being distributed amongst the participating schools.
Wilke Reints, Managing Director of Yunex Traffic in the UK said: “We are delighted to be actively supporting Road Safety Week again in this way, and to have the chance to positively engage with so many children. Hopefully the lessons they learn as part of this fun and creative programme will stay with them and help them stay safe. We are also extremely grateful to our supply partners who once again have stepped up and supported this worthwhile cause. With their help, schools across the country are not only focusing on road safety, but will also benefit from the equipment they are donating.”
Laura Prescott, Director of Prescott Special Projects Ltd said: “As a family run business with young children, road safety has always been a priority for Prescott Special Projects Ltd, and we are proud to work with Yunex Traffic in the provision and enhancement of road safety infrastructure.”
Sean Pannell, Managing Director of Renteq Highways Ltd, said: “Renteq Highways is very happy to support this important campaign. Road safety is in the heart of our business, and we completely support the aims and objectives of this competition. We wish everyone the very best and look forward to seeing the winning designs.”
Billy Geary of Lochwynd Ltd said: “Lochwynd Ltd are delighted to support our local communities with our long-standing partner, Yunex Traffic.”
Run by national road safety charity, Brake, Road Safety Week is the UK’s biggest road safety campaign. Every year, thousands of schools, organisations, and communities get involved to share important road safety messages, remember people affected by road death and injury, and raise funds to help Brake care for more road victims and campaign for safe roads for everyone.
