RDW, the Dutch transport authority, has chosen Triangle, owned by the Portuguese company Via Verde, to implement a new electronic toll collection system for heavy goods vehicles that will operate on highways and some national and municipal roads in the Netherlands.
Triangle, led by Via Verde, has Yunex Traffic and Ascendi O&M as partners. Toll collection for heavy vehicles will begin in July 2026 and Triangle will implement and manage the satellite toll collection system, which will work with an identifier.
When the bulk vehicle levy is introduced, vehicle owners will pay per kilometre driven on motorways, a number of N-roads and some municipal roads.
Yunex Traffic has issued a statement saying that, as a trusted partner of ViaVerde it will provide the onboard units as well as the operational back office for satellite-based tolling system and ensure reliable and seamless connectivity between trucks and the tolling system.
