Nottingham City Transport (NCT) has appointed Zenobē to deliver its electric bus project at Trent Bridge Bus Garage. The Depot, which was once home to horse drawn trams will soon be home to an all-electric bus fleet. The upgraded infrastructure at the historic depot will allow NCT to extend the electric fleet in the future, and work towards their ambition to be a net-zero operator.
The new buses are not just be great for the planet they will be more comfortable and too. Electric air-conditioning, free wifi and USB charge points on board will result in a better passenger experience, said NCT.
Earlier this year Nottingham City Council and Nottingham City Transport (NCT) were successful in securing funding from the government’s Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas fund (ZEBRA). This money is being used to turn the Trent Bridge Bus Garage into a fully electric depot, and purchase over 70 new buses.
Greener buses help to reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality, which has a major impact on the health of our citizens and the planet. Plus, newer buses offer a more comfortable journey for passengers too. It’s great that we’re working with NCT to help them become one of the UK’s first carbon neutral bus operators, and Nottingham a carbon neutral city by 2028.
In recent years NCT have made major upgrades to their fleet including retrofitting older diesel buses and acquiring one of the largest biogas bus fleets in the country. It is exciting that now the technology in electric buses has improved so the new generation of electric buses can run an entire day’s service on a single charge.

Getting more people using greener public transport is a key part in tackling the twin emergencies of toxic air pollution and climate breakdown. These electric buses will help Nottingham to reach our carbon neutral 2028 goals while getting people around the city quickly and easily as part of our award-winning bus network.”
