On the road to Net Zero as Marlborough Highways announces second meet the buyer day

Marlborough Highways is excited to announce that it will host a Meet the Buyer event at Wanstead Golf Club in East London on Tuesday 6 September 2022. Returning for its second year, the networking session will provide local suppliers to the highways industry with the opportunity to showcase their latest services, with a view to forging new commercial partnerships.

The Marlborough team are particularly interested in innovations that will help them to operate in a more sustainable way, as part of the organisation’s ambitious commitment to go Net Zero by 2025. The morning will be followed by an optional Charity Golf Day, in support of the mental health charity, Mind.

Kicking off at 9am, the day will provide companies based in the London Boroughs of Havering, Barking and Dagenham, Hackney, Haringey, Islington, Enfield and Newham with the opportunity to present their sustainable products to key decisionmakers. The session, which is free to attend and includes breakfast and a buffet lunch, represents Marlborough’s commitment to work with local businesses based in the locations in which it serves.

In line with Marlborough’s approach to social values, attendees are invited to a complementary charity golf match immediately following the Meet the Buyer event. Teeing off at 12.30pm, guests will be able to enjoy a relaxed game on the historic 18-hole, par 69 course, which is set in beautiful parkland and benefits from stunning views and well-groomed fairways. Players will have the option to support the company’s chosen charity Mind, by donating on the dedicated Marlborough Highways Just Giving page.

Marlborough knows that operating in a sustainable way is vital for the well-being of the planet, its customers, and the communities in which it serves. The event will allow the Chelmsford based firm to improve its supply chain and to establish new relationships with organisations that share in its commitment to protecting the environment and to decarbonising the highways industry.

Jack Dighton, Strategic and Supply Chain Procurement Manager at Marlborough Highways said, “After last year’s successful event, we are expecting September’s Meet the Buyer Day to be even bigger and better. As we grow and diversify our supply chain, we want to establish great relationships with innovative local businesses that can help us reach Net Zero by 2025. We recognise the importance of everyone’s mental well-being, so are delighted to support Mind with our charity golf match. I am looking forward to seeing our valued partners and hope to meet plenty of new industry colleagues, on what will be a fun and productive day”.
