SWARCO is upgrading traffic signals at the Ferensway and Anlaby Road in Hull this week on behalf of Hull City Council.
The Council says that as part of its ongoing commitment to reducing carbon emissions across the city, the existing traffic signals will be replaced with LED lamps, significantly improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.
The scheme is expected to take five days to complete, depending on the weather, but has been timed to take place during Half Term to reduce impact on traffic.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure at Hull City Council said: “As a council, we are always working proactively to improve and enhance the city’s highway network for road users, and pedestrians.
“This upgrade is a smart and sustainable investment in one of our city centre’s busiest junctions. By installing modern, energy‑efficient LED signals, we’re reducing the council’s carbon footprint while improving reliability for everyone who travels through this area.
“We’ve planned the work carefully to minimise disruption, carrying it out during half term, so residents and businesses experience as little inconvenience as possible.
“However, as always, we appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as we work to improve this key city centre junction.”
