The popular JCT Traffic Signals Symposium has announced TRL has joined the list of Sponsors for September’s event at the University of Lincoln, joining YUNEX Traffic, Telent, NAL, PTV Group and SWARCO as backers of the revamped two-day conference.
Meanwhile the latest addition to the programme have been confirmed, with the papers committee choosing Reading Borough Council’s Lyndon George to discuss “Innovation needs to start from the ground up” and Shane Collins of 4way Consulting presenting on how signals support pedestrian, tram and bus priority at the new Bull Street/Corporation Street Delta junction in Birmingham. Mark Pleydell from the TOPAS Management Board will update delegates on Developments in TOPAS Standards for Detectors.
They join two keynote speakers Darren Capes, the Department for Transport’s Head of Road Infrastructure Technology, and Principal Engineer, Traffic Signals at Lincolnshire County Council, Anthony Gent. Max Sugarman Chief Executive Of Intelligent Transport Systems UK will also talk about their new campaign to make the case for investment in traffic technology, highlighting the state of obsolescence across the UK. The growing programme also includes Joseph Carr from Transport for London, Paul Finch and Peter Richards from National Highways, and Professor Michael J Smith of the University of York, Dr Richard Mounce from RBM Traffic Solutions will also be speaking. A full list of Papers with synopses are published on the JCT Symposium Website as they are commissioned.
After high initial demand, JCT has secured additional high-quality, self-catering on-campus bedrooms, available at a competitive £150 for a two-night stay. These rooms are also included in a popular “Symposium Bundle,” which combines a full two-day conference pass, accommodation, and access to the Networking Event at the Student’s Union Towers Bar on the evening of 16 September. Priced at £495, the limited number of bundles are already selling quickly.
As well as the Symposium sponsors, strong industry support continues for the MOVA Users Group, with contributions from Chris Kennett Consulting, PTV Group, SWARCO, Telent and TRL Software. Thanks to this backing, the MOVA Users Group meeting will once again be free to attend. It will be held on 15 September at the Hilton DoubleTree hotel, adjacent to the university campus.
JCT Director John Nightingale, who leads the organisation of the event said: “This year’s Symposium marks a return to our academic roots in Lincoln, with a renewed focus on high-quality technical content and knowledge sharing.
The strength of submissions and continued industry support through sponsorship demonstrate just how important the Symposium remains to the sector. We’re excited to build on this momentum in future years as the event continues to evolve.”
