Robotaxi users in the US who rely on driverless trips may soon get an exclusive upgrade after Waymo announced that launch of its “Waymo Premier” service. The new initiative is an invitation-only monthly membership programme tailored for its most frequent riders in Phoenix, San Francisco and Los Angeles, says KTAR News.

The membership will cost $29.99 (£23) per month.

Subscribers will receive priority pickups during high-demand hours, up to five free cancellations per month, early access to new service areas as the company expands and 10% back in Waymo Cash on every ride, with higher return rates during peak hours.

Company officials said the subscription service was designed around direct feedback from frequent passengers.

The rollout comes as the Alphabet-owned company continues to scale its presence in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Waymo One launched in the East Valley in October 2022, with its current commercial service area spanning across Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa and Chandler.
