“A credit to the whole industry”: Transport leaders celebrate New Year Honours

The Transport Technology Forum has hailed the transport professionals who featured in the New Year Honours list, saying the whole industry should take pride in individuals’ recognition.

Kerry Winstanley, Managing Director of LCRIG, which delivers the TTF, was responding to the awards, which included a CBE for former Chief Scientific Adviser to the DfT, Professor Sarah Sharples, and the TTF’s Connected Services Interest Group Chair Andy Graham, who got an MBE.

“I was delighted to see two such great supporters of the TTF honoured by the King for their outstanding contributions to the sector,” Ms Winstanley commented.  “On top of that, we’ve seen people honoured for their services to transport and innovation, transport planning, public transport, traffic and parking management, environmental protection and diversity and inclusion in the sector.  This shows the range of great work our industry does and reflects extremely well on everyone involved.”

Andy Graham MBE (pictured) said that the award was “very pleasing as it reflects nearly 40 years of working in transport technology, moving whacky ideas from whiteboard to ‘what would we do without this?’”, while writing on LinkedIn, Professor Sharples CBE commented: “I feel a bit guilty that I get credit for work that is always a team effort, especially in the world of equality, diversity and inclusion where I’ve had help from so many people along the way, and we aren’t close to being done yet.”
