A12 closure to cause Chelmsford ‘chaos’

Huge resurfacing works are taking place on the A12 in Essex this weekend with potential delays expected for motorists. Drivers are urged to plan ahead and allow for extra travel time for journeys on the A12 this weekend as National Highways work to resurface the road continues near Chelmsford, says Essex Live.

As part of a programme of work there will be a full closure of the northbound carriageway of the A12 between junctions 12 (Brentwood) and 15 (Three Mile Hill/Webb’s Farm Interchange). It will take place between 9pm on Friday (April 5) and 5am on Monday (April 8).

Anto Babu, National Highways Project Manager said: “It is expected that the weekend closure will cause disruption along the A12 and on some local roads around Margaretting, so we encourage drivers to plan ahead and allow extra time when travelling. We’re sorry for any inconvenience the carriageway closure may cause to both those travelling on the A12 and to local residents. It is to ensure that our colleagues from Essex and Suffolk Water can carry out planned water diversion work safely.”
