National Highways is advising motorists planning to travel on the M11 in Cambridgeshire between junction 10 (Duxford) and junction 13 (A1303) in both directions to allow more time for their journeys. The agency is carrying out emergency central reservation barrier repairs.
The motorway has been reduced to one lane in both directions with the second lane (two of two) closed for a distance of 13.5km both ways for safety reasons and to enable safety works required to the central barrier to be undertaken. The speed limit has also been reduced to 40mph.
Delays are anticipated, especially at peak travel times, with motorists advised to plan their journeys, allow more time or find alternative routes if possible.
National Highways also reminded to prepare for journeys with temperatures predicted to reach a high of 33 degrees Celsius in the Cambridgeshire region today as the heatwave reaches its peak. Further advice about driving in hot weather can be found here.
