The British Ambassador to Portugal has praised the innovation of UK companies exhibiting at the ITS European Congress in Lisbon.
Chris Sainty joined Navtech Radar, Clearview Intelligence, Nicander, Now Wireless, ANGOKA, Ito World, Neology, Arup, Grid Smarter Cities, See.Sense, VESOS and Zenzic on the UK Pavilion where they are showcasing a range of the country’s latest innovations in improving sustainability, transport network efficiency and safety.
During a busy reception on the stand the Ambassador noted the collaboration seen to make the major UK Pavilion a reality.
“I am truly delighted to support such a great initiative organised by the Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG) for the Transport Technology Forum, an organisation co-funded by the Department for Transport and Innovation UK,” he said. “The UK plays a leading role in the development and delivery of road transport technology. TTF is a key organisation by helping meet the need for action to deliver the future of mobility, driving more effective and efficient management of existing and new road networks, as road transport will remain a pillar of how people and goods move across countries. An ambition that can only be achieved through a strong collaborative culture, involving all the relevant players and government organisations, both in the UK and also internationally.”
The stand was supported by the Department of Business and Trade (DBT) which has a dedicated team based at the Embassy in Lisbon which helps companies wishing to export to Portugal. Members of this team were on hand during the reception to meet exhibitors and discuss services they can provide.
Later, in a chat with the special TTF-supported Highways Voices podcast at the event, Mr Sainty added that is impressed at the “very exciting, very creative, very innovative British companies all very enthusiastic about the technologies that they’ve been developing” before adding “I’m very proud to be able see that the UK is clearly right at the forefront of this sector, and we’re here at the Congress with a very prominent stand and I very much hope this will lead to be to some great business deals in the future.”
