Ealing Council has put out to tender a highways works contract with an estimated value of £140 milion over a potential seven-year term.

The West London authority has split the Highways Works Term Contract into two lots, each valued at approximately £70 million excluding VAT, says the Government’s Find A Tender service.

The first lot covers routine highway maintenance, including pothole and footway repairs, gully cleansing, road markings, winter services, emergency responses and resurfacing programmes.

The second focuses on highway and civil engineering improvements, such as cycle infrastructure, bus priority schemes, junction enhancements, sustainable drainage, traffic calming and public realm projects.

Contractors are permitted to submit bids for both lots and may be awarded both.

The contracts are scheduled to commence on 1 April 2027, initially running for five years until 31 March 2032. Ealing Council has included options for two additional one-year extensions, potentially extending the arrangements to 31 March 2034.

The procurement is being conducted through an open procedure under the Procurement Act 2023, with price accounting for 70 per cent of the evaluation weighting for both lots.

The deadline for tender submissions is noon on 30 October 2026, with supplier enquiries closing on 2 October. The council anticipates making an award decision on 22 December 2026.
