The organisers of the ITS European Congress, ERTICO – ITS Europe, has given more details of why next year’s event in Seville has been moved two weeks earlier to 19-21 May.
It says it’s because of the selection of Seville and Fibes Conference Center to host the 4th International Conference of the United Nations on Financing for Development (FfD).
That event is scheduled from 30 June to 3 July 2025, which is deemed too close to the original European Congress dates of 2-4 June.
The event, organised by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) and supported by the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), will convene Heads of State, Government officials, and key Ministers to address new and emerging challenges in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and support the global financial architecture reform. With the venue reserved for their preparatory activities from mid-May, the ITS European Congress host committee moved the dates to ensure it could still go ahead.
“In light of this unique change, the Congress theme ‘Clean, Resilient, and Connected Mobility’ marks an important reflection of the principles – resilience and adaptability – demonstrating how challenges can be transformed into opportunities and further strengthening the close cooperation between ERTICO, the City of Seville, the Spanish national and local authorities, as well as all local and national stakeholders across the wider network of Intelligent Transport Systems,” reads a statement.
“In May 2025, the ITS European Congress will bring together thought leaders, experts and innovators in intelligent transport and mobility, reinforcing the emphasis on collaboration and flexibility. This adjustment also reaffirms the joint commitment of delivering a dynamic and impactful event. Together in Seville, we will pave the way for a smarter, more resilient and sustainable mobility future.”
The European Congress features high-level discussions, networking opportunities, and an exhibition of cutting-edge technologies and innovations designed to help shape a more sustainable and connected mobility future for all.
