Gallows Corner to partially reopen this weekend

Transport for London has confirmed that Gallows Corner in Romford will be partially reopened this weekend for the first time in nearly a year,

Part of the junction, including the eastbound flyover, Straight Road and Main Road will reopen on Sunday 10 May, says the Romford Recorder.

Scott Haxton, TfL’s director of capital delivery said all planned works have been carried out by TfL and Essex & Suffolk Water (ESW) although water-main works will continue during the partial reopening.

“All significant planned TfL and Essex and Suffolk Water (ESW) works at Gallows Corner have been completed and we have been urgently working on a plan to partially reopen parts of the road network. Having completed extensive technical and safety checks, we expect to reopen sections of the road network to general traffic from Sunday 10 May.

“This includes reopening the flyover eastbound, allowing traffic to travel between the A12 and A127, as well as fully reopening Straight Road and Main Road.

“The flyover will remain closed westbound, and the A12 southbound will remain bus-only, to allow water main works to continue safely and to help manage traffic in the area.”
