Glasgow: Traffic lights still not working after West Nile Street fire

After the major fire in Glasgow over the weekend, Scottish Power has confirmed that the traffic lights at Bath Street and West Nile Street remain off due to further safety investigations, which have to be carried out by the traffic signals engineer. Drivers are advised to approach the junction with care and attention, says the Glasgow Times.

This comes after 999 crews, including specialist firefighters were alerted to flames at the electrical room of 142 West Nile Street, a city centre office building, around 4.30pm yesterday.

Emergency workers rushed to the scene and the road was shut to traffic between Bath Street and West George Street until 9.25pm, when the blaze was extinguished.

Six fire trucks, including specialists were at the scene and no injuries have been reported.
