Gloucestershire County Council starts search for contractor for M5, junction 10 improvements

Gloucestershire County Council has started the search for a contractor to deliver the upgrade work needed on junction 10 on the M5.

The majority of the work will be based around removing slip roads and constructing a new roundabout to ease pressure on local roads and junction 11. It is likely the the roundabout will be built above the motorway. At the moment, the junction only had slip roads to and from the north.

As well as that, the project also includes a new West Cheltenham Link Road east of Junction 10 and widening of the A4019 to the east of Junction 10.

Gloucestershire County Council has been given £249 million for the scheme, following a successful Homes England’s Housing Infrastructure Fund.

It is expected that a shortlist of contractors to bid will be announced in February, with a preferred bidder chosen next July.
