Heidelberg Materials has opened a new recycling hub at its Appleford depot
Oxfordshire.
It is the first of several planned at the company’s sites this year as part of its strategy to conserve natural materials and promote the circular economy.
The Appleford hub will recycle construction waste, diverting it away from landfill and
processing and reusing it to deliver sustainable products to its customers. It means
the site is now a one-stop shop for customers, supplying primary aggregate, readymixed concrete and asphalt in addition to recycled material.
James Whitelaw, Recycling Managing Director, Heidelberg Materials UK, said:
“Recycling, reusing and reducing the use of primary raw materials is crucial to
reaching net zero. Our network of recycling hubs will allow us to provide the most sustainable products
to our customers through circularity and innovation to enable building more, with
less.”
The recycling hubs form part of Heidelberg Material’s recycling business line, which
includes rebranded Manchester-based A1 Services, acquired by the company in 2022.
