Mapping and data company HERE Technologies is partnering with Europe’s biggest parking operator APCOA to digitise the maps of nearly ten thousand car parks.

They’ve agreed to work on a joint parking solution for car makers, mobility service providers and smart cities, delivering parking data using in-car infotainment systems, apps and websites.

They’ll also target sales to include fleet operators, smart logistics and TIER 1 suppliers, marketing it all through the HERE Marketplace.

They’re also looking to create HD 3D indoor maps of parking garages in 13 European countries which they say would enable the development of new services like autonomous valet parking and pre-booking of parking spaces for seamless end-to-end routing as well as augmented reality-related experiences for end users.
