ITS (UK) and a large number of its Members have participated in the major Highways UK transport trade show at Birmingham’s NEC this week.
An estimated 8,000 industry professionals attended the two-day event which involved an exhibition containing 230 exhibitors and a range of themed theatres.
ITS (UK)’s stand was opposite the Intelligent Transport Systems theatre, sponsored by Executive Members Mott MacDonald. ITS (UK)’s Operations Manager Rukshan Soysa worked closely with the organisers to produce a total of ten sessions across the two days, relating to a wide range of ITS themes including highlighting inclusivity within transport, improving driver compliance, data strategies, building climate resilience and more. The Society’s Enforcement, Smart Environment, Data, Inclusive Mobility Forums all participated and had an integral role within the dedicated theatre. ITS (UK) was pleased to have such a prominent presence this year which led to very useful networking opportunities and looks forward to working with the Highways UK team again next year. ITS (UK) Secretary General Jennie Martin appeared on a number of panels in the Mott MacDonald ITS theatre, covering topics from digital inclusion to making ITS equipment and services climate resilient . Communications Manager Paul Hutton hosted the keynote session on the second day of the event. The other Members of the Secretariat, Wendy Irving, Rachael Louis and Gerald Leney all staffed the ITS (UK) stand.
The Society’s incoming CEO, Max Sugarman attended the event, meeting his new colleagues for the first time and introducing himself to many of the ITS (UK) Members who were at the event.
